The Book Club Play: It’s awkward enough that the intimate book club in Karen Zacarias’ comedy is being filmed by a Danish documentary maker, but the tightly wound leader Ana (Kathryn Han, center) feels things slipping out of her control. Rob (Gabriel Marin right), her husband, never bothers to read the books. But the awkward Jen (Rebecca Schweitzer) and two newcomers shake things up, and people start reading between the lines.

Previews 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. Opens 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3. 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Through Feb. 28. $15-$58. Center Repertory Company, Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek. (925) 943-7469. www.centerrep.org.
