Young REP Theatre Lab at the Lesher Center for the Arts returns in Summer 2026!
Young REP Theatre Lab is Center REP's newly expanded theatre arts summer program for teen artists age 13 - 18 who are looking to engage all aspects of their creativity.
Led by theatre professionals, students learn the art of acting and playwriting while taking master classes in stage combat, theatrical makeup, and more. The four-week program culminates in a final performance of new short plays, created and performed by the students for family and friends, onstage at the Lesher Center for the Arts.
Young REP Theatre Lab applications for 2026 are now OPEN! Space is limited, and priority consideration will be given to those who apply by January 15, 2026. Applications received after January 15 will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full.

About the Program
Last summer, Center REP—one of the longest running professional theatre companies in the Bay Area—launched an ALL NEW theatre arts training program for students age 13-18.
Whether your student has actively performed on stage or is just now showing interest, this newly developed program invites all students to take part in an intensive, experiential based journey through the tools that actors employ for success. Led by working professionals in the Bay Area theatre scene, this four week program leads students through a broad range of immersive training sessions that provide the groundwork for those interested in exploring the art of the actor.
Each day is split into two sections—mornings explore the craft of an actor, which includes acting, audition technique, resume building, improv, movement, speech and more. The second half of the day explores the broader universe of artistic engagement, including multi-media design and technology, playwriting, and dramaturgy, with additional masterclasses spread throughout the session in specialized areas such as theatrical make-up, stage combat, and musical theatre.
2026 Tuition
$1,440
Included in tuition:
- 18 days comprised of 6 hours/day of instruction with multiple classes and instructors per day.
- Professional recording of the evening Performance Showcase at the Lesher Center for the Arts on July 2, 2026.
A limited number of scholarships are available for Young REP Theatre Lab participants who live in Contra Costa County and meet maximum household income requirements.
